"The Short Grass", in Gaelic "An feur gearr", also known as "Put on Your Clothes" or<br> "Put on Your Coat" is an Irish double jig in 6/8 time and A Minor. The parts are played AAB<br> (O'Neill/1915), AABB (Cole, Kerr) and AABB' (O'Neill/1850, 1001 & Krassen).<br> The tune appears in R.M. Levey's First Collection of Irish Dance Music (1858) as an untitled<br> jig and O'Neill's setting is very close to it. Elias Howe's c. 1864 printing is also quite<br> close and his publication introduces the title "Short Grass" for the jig.<br> It was printed in Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940),<br> Howe's Musician’s Omnibus No. 2 (c. 1864),<br> Kerr's Merry Melodies, vol. 2 (c. 1880’s),<br> R.M. Levey's First Collection of the Dance Music of Ireland (1858),<br> O'Neill (Krassen) (1976),<br> O'Neill's O’Neill’s Irish Music (1915),<br> O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903),<br> O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907) and<br> Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (1883).<br> It was recorded by Wendy MacIsaac on That’s What You Get (1998),<br> Dervish on Harmony Hill (1992),<br> Kevin Rowsome on The Rowsome Tradition (1998),<br> Kieran O'Hare and John Skelton on Wooden Flute Obsession 3 and<br> Natalie MacMaster on Four on the Floor.<br>
